Roman Catholic Pope Francis arrived on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos (Lesbos) on Saturday morning as part of a Vatican effort to focus international attention and relief efforts on the refugee crisis, which has intensified over the last year and a half.

Francis was greeting at the Mytilene airport by Ecumenical Patriach Vartholomenos (Bartholomew) the spiritual leader and primus inter pares of the world’s Orthodox Christians, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

The Primeminister Alexis Tsipras said to Pope that the island of Lesvos claimed the responsibility for all Europe about the Syrian refuges.

Pope will returne to Vatican among ten refuges, in a symbolic movement for the national community.
