Administering emergency funding of 3.5 billion. Euros for recruitment in refugees and immigrants registration centers created in the Greek islands was adopted by the European Commission.


According to the announcement, the funding will help cover the costs of hiring human resources in the first reception centers to be established in Kos, Lesbos, Samos, Chios and Leros.

Moreover, the money from the Internal Security Fund (ISF) and the aim is to enhance the ability of Greece to manage effectively the unprecedented refugee flows in the country, ensuring the satisfactory operation of the system of identification, registration and admission of third-country nationals.

"The emergency funding will be used to significantly increase the number of qualified personnel, which should help to reduce the length of the registration procedures," concludes the statement.
